I love the 4th of July. It is one of my favorite holidays. We got in the day before from St George so we did not have a chance to do the balloon fest prior to the day of. I wanted to still go so we planned on getting up in the morning. Once we got up bright and early and went outside we noticed it looked pretty overcast. We picked up my mom and meet up with my brother Colby's family. It started getting windy and none of the balloons were unpacking. After a half hour or so the main Alexander balloon blew up and launched. A few others (about 9) followed suit but it got really windy and none of them launched. We have had the worst luck, it was windy last year too. So strike 2, hoping for success next year. The 2 prior days were fine so hopefully we can pick a better day next year. We were glad to see that the Darth Vader balloon at least blew up. Caleb was so excited to see that one and it was pretty cool. We all grabbed some breakfast and headed over to the parade. We found a great spot and didn't even have to camp out. The kids had fun and the weather was overcast but nice. We came home and napped and then headed over to my parents to swim and have a BBQ. Later that night we went down to my parents Cul de Sac of Fire. It was rather disappointing this year as the main two families that put it together were out of town and the neighbors that threw it together picked some poor entertainment options. The fireworks were good as always especially with aerials this year but it ended up raining pretty hard so we were soaking by the end of it all. We came home and let the kids do some sparklers since the rain stopped. It was another fun and festive 4th. Thanks to all the men and woman serving and who have served who give us the freedom we enjoy today.
