Jack the Pumpkin King

So Tommy's work decided to do a dessert contest this year, so I thought it would be fun to do something for it. Tommy and I Caleb have such a love for Jack Skellington and I am quite fond of the guy myself so I decided to attempt a Jack Skellington cake. This was my first attempt and it took some time but it was really fun and I was pretty pleased with the outcome.

Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

On Monday night we had a Jack O Lantern Pizza and then headed to the Pumpkin Patch to get some pumpkins. The kids wanted to take every pumpkin home. We settled on three and two "baby" ones. Then later that night our good friends brought us three more from their patch, so needless to say we have plenty of pumpkins now.


We waited until Tuesday night to carve them. We watched "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" while we carved. Here are our finished products.

Halloween FHE

My family all gets together every fourth Sunday for a combined FHE. Each October we do a Halloween themed dinner. This year it was at my sister-in-law Jamies house. We had appetizers, Chili and Fritos with biscuts, then cupcakes and orange and white sherbert for dessert. It is always so fun to see what is made each year.

Baking with Grandma

My mom was of last Thursday and the kids wanted to make cookies so we invited her over to join us. They LOVE spending time with Grandma. My mom and the kids watched Snow White as I prepared the sugar cookie dough. Then the kids got in on the action cutting out shapes. Bailey decorated one cookie and then grabbed it to eat and she was good :) Caleb on the other hand was on a mission, we could not bake and cool cookies fast enough for him to decorate. He did 95% of them and was quite creative. It was a fun afternoon, thanks for spending it with us mom/grandma.

Spooktacular

We LOVE Halloween at our house, so when we planned our trip to California we knew we had to hit Disneyland for Halloween time. It was SO much fun!! We have experienced it at Christmas and that is fun too, but it is so different at Halloween time. Such a fun energy. We were originally planning on going on Tuesday but the biggest rain storm of the year rolled in so we post-poned it until Thursday. It was perfect weather, partly cloudy in the morning and then sunshine and high 70's the rest of the day. Tommy's parents, his brother Kyle and his friend JJ joined us. We were able to get right on to any ride which made it so nice with having the kids. We got in so many rides this time around. The kids LOVED it! They both really were into it this year, Bailey more than I thought. She would YELL out ever character that she saw and would get so excited about everything.

Disneyland does such a good job of decorating the park for Halloween. There are pumpkin EVERYWHERE!! Lots of characters dressed up in costumes, they were so cute!! Lots of villains out and about; Jafar, Cruella Da Ville, Witch from Snow White. And our FAVORITE character Jack Skellington and Sally. Caleb was thrilled to see him walking around. They had some fun themed rides as well that we were able to go on while the kids were napping. Space Mountain was turned into a spooky ride, totally cool. And of course, we had to experience the Haunted Mansion featuring Jack.

We also watched the Celebration Parade. Bailey was so excited to finally see Daisy featured in the parade. Yippee!!!

And what is a trip to Disneyland without a Churro......ohhh so good!

After a very long and exhausting day we headed to our hotel, we were all so tired!!!! The kids helped make it so magically, another AMAZING and MEMORABLE family trip to Disneyland!!!!
